Community Steps Up to Support the Salvation Army's Efforts During the Pandemic
Major Jeff Martin, Divisional Commander of The Salvation Army Hawaiian and Pacific Islands, admits he was a bit unsure about whether or not people would step up and join their efforts amidst the pandemic. But it wasn’t long before support came pouring in. “We started asking for assistance,” he recalls, “and it came. Our community is so good to us.”
Thanks to generous donations and the efforts of countless volunteers, The Salvation Army has been able to provide numerous food distribution events across the state, offering relief to thousands of people in need.
“Having received all this support from our community made me feel both humbled and proud,” Major Martin says. “This shows me that we have a very strong community, and through the efforts of all the volunteers and all the donors, our community will be stronger in the future.”
